Going Japanese [The Great SumoSam Olympia Experience]

Walking around Makati CBD is one of the things that I love doing. With this hobby of mine, my attention was caught by this ad outside SumoSam Legacy in Olympia.

 

SumoSam Legacy Olympia’s buffet is offered daily for lunch and dinner. In my recent visit, the marketing director shared to us that they’ll have a breakfast buffet but I haven’t tried that yet.  

Who would not be tempted to look at this ad which shows "UNLI TEMPURA & SUSHI" for a very affordable price of Php 499.00? Upon seeing this, I immediately think of people whom I can bring to this place and try this sumptuous Japanese buffet. 

This is a good avenue for someone who wanted to try bits and pieces of SumoSam's menu. Be it a Yori-Kiri Plate, SumoSam Green Thumb, Noodles, and Temaki, Sashimi and Sushi, you will be able to have a taste of it. 

I was lucky enough, since the day after I saw the ad, my boss asked us where we want to have dinner (which she doesn't normally ask ‘coz we usually go home early). I immediately thought of telling them that there's this new place that offers buffet and good thing she said that’s where we’ll have our dinner! :) 

Here goes my little journey in the sumptuous feast of SumoSam Olympia.

Make your own SumoSam Salad. With their salad bar, you can just create whatever type of salad you want or you may also use the guide to make your version of SumoSam salad.

Tempura-all you-can! Just ask for an order slip and hand it over to your friendly server. They will deliver a freshly baked tempura, but it may take few minutes before you can enjoy the dish. The wait is all worth it though. (I suggest that upon getting your table, place your order so that while you're busy checking out other food, they will also be busy preparing for your tempura.)

They also serve other dishes from their regular menu (availability of each dish varies per visit) which you’ll surely love and will make you come back for more!

Initially, there was a sushi bar where you can just get whatever sushi/roll you wish to have. But eventually, they decided to just have this as one of their order-all-you-can dish to ensure the freshness of sushi served directly to your table.

My last visit was with a big group, thus we had large plates of sushi to serve our cravings for Japanese food. It didn't took more than 10 minutes for us to finish all of this and we even requested for another plate. “No leftovers” will never be a problem for us! 

Ramen bar is love! :) You can choose from Miso or Shoyu soup - but given this good opportunity, I tried both and it tastes really good. You can also choose from which flavor you would like to have, but I preferred a simple tempura ramen since I just want to enjoy the good taste of their broth. The serving size is just right for you to have a taste of their ramen, and I even had 3 servings the first time I visited this place.

Same as what they did with their sushi bar, they now offer this as part of their order-all-you-can. Just decide which broth and toppings you want to have and it will be served to you directly.

To cap off the feast, drop by their dessert bar which offers a selection of sweets, fresh fruits, make-your-own-halo-halo and ice cream with 3 flavors to choose from.

Buffets are best enjoyed with family and friends to share stories with, over sumptuous dishes.
