Podcasts: My Kind of Entertainment

And I'm back to my old habit of listening to podcasts! I've been thinking of starting this blog way back early 2014 but I had few schedules that kept me busy for a while.
To start off, we must first define what a podcast means. PODCAST as defined by Meriam Webster Dictionary is a program (as of music or talk) made available in digital format for automatic download over the Internet. For me, it's basically the most convenient way of sharing your creative media files with people who might find your material interesting. It is a good avenue of sharing your skills and talent to the world, without having you pay much or going through all those tedious audition to fit for a project. A normal but creative group of people can start a podcast and make it far too. Make sure you also encourage people to hear or watch your thing to gain followers and be a future star (you'll never know until you try!). I myself would want to have my own podcast thing to be shared to public. Like a talk show kind! :)

Anyway, all I want to share with this blog is some reviews (just my thoughts) of podcasts that I've listened to and currently following.

The Cave Podcast. This is the first podcast that I followed from Day 1 to date. It's a show catered for men who wants to get practical advise from men. Hosted by Rovilson Fernandez, Mark Nelson, Stephen Khu and Erwan Huessaff, this show would really give a man good answers on their question about being a true guy. Each week, they have interesting topics with bonus of a (hot) female guest which would give a twist on whatever will be tackled. The female guest would also voice out their opinion on how men should/could be, giving the audience the opinion from both sides of sexuality. What I also love about this podcast is that they would have the setup in different places, like the host's pad or a restobar which they may also own or that of their sponsor. Housed by extrarice.tv, its available through iTunes, and YouTube.

Coffee Break. On the other hand, is an all-female show which tackles some girly stuff and also socially relevant topics, hosted by Chely Esguerra, Lynn Pinugu, Ana Oposa and Bianca Gonzales. This got my interest mainly because of a post by Bianca G. about the podcast and the rest is history. Its a weekly show and they normally start off by giving their piece of fact for the day and ends it with Top 5 about the day's topic. They also invite over guests who is an expert or mindful of the topic to be discussed. It's under New Media Factory TV (NMFTv) It's available via iTunes only.

5th Philippine Pyromusical Competition Day

It's my first time to attend this event held annually in the Philippines. I actually don't know why I didn't bother to go in the past years. Also a first for me is to shoot fireworks as I really am not a person keen in working on my photography skills. hehe I just researched in the internet, how-to's and few reminders. But I know this ain't good enough, at least I tried.

Here are snippets from what I got last Saturday. These are from the exhibition pyromusical from the Philippines.

Next set is the first among those countries who competed. United Kingdom.

I am looking forward to more pyromusical events with my family. The event runs every Saturday, at the SM Mall of Asia until the 23rd of March 2014. It usually starts at 7:30PM each exhibition lasts for around 15 to 20 minutes with an interval of 15 minutes for the next presenter. I had fun doing this with my family and looking forward to more family bonding like this with them.

My road to effective healthy weight loss

Everyone of us have own fitness goals and reasons why we start getting our way to fitness. For me, I decided to shed some weight off me when I started seeing myself getting a little bigger than I was. I am fond of taking photos and this is one of my realization whenever I browse my mobile phone and Facebook account. Let's take a look back at how I was before.

Starting out was really hard. But I know doing all these will really pay off and benefit not just how I look physically but my health will improve as well. I started going to the gym, watching my food intake (sometimes), researched about food I should consume just to lose weight. Turning away from what you've been doing was really hard but commitment is really the key for you to succeed.

I was introduced to an all girls fitness club because of a one month free trial voucher given by my colleague lat October. Then I lost weight and became the 4th biggest loser for my first month. I think this is one of the reasons why I gave in to joining the club, add to that, I saw a great team of fitness instructors who I know, can really help me achieve my fitness goals. True enough, they've been so supportive on each member's fitness goals.

The succeeding months became very hard as I was only losing few inches and pounds. Thanks to unending eating engagements that I have, but still thankful that I didn't gained much weight because of my consistent gym visits. After a quarter, my coach told me to find an alternative routine since my body might just get used to my routine and will eventually slow down my weight loss. I was still 125lbs then and our goal is to set it at 110-115 lbs (that was from 130 lbs way back September 2013). I don't see myself doing other exercise routine that time since I'm quite busy with work stuff. I did some rounds at Ayala Triangle before whenever I can't hit the gym but I don't think I can religiously do it.

Then I attended a training about weight loss program in one of my business ventures few days after my conversation with my fitness coach. It was a very unusual routine as it only would require me to change my diet plan and few exercise per day, which will not require too much perspiration and effort. I was inspired and tried doing the one-week challenge which started last Feb 3. Lo and behold, below is my week-long weight track with few cheat meals on the side (I should try one without cheat meals at all!).

As  you can see, I started at 128 lbs (57kgs). I tried checking after 2 days (as the diet plan said that weight loss is possible for just a week), and the bathroom scale now reads 118 lbs (54 kgs). I can't believe the drastic weight loss, without me starving myself and I am assured I get an optimal nutrients as recommended per day. As per my own experience I didn't have any unusual feeling/discomfort during the process. Then come Thursday night, I still lost few pounds! The scale now reads 112lbs (52kgs) after just 4 days of doing it! I didn't even have to wait for the 5-day challenge to end for me to see the difference. (To purchase or know more about the program, you may visit this site)

What I only did was to follow the Reset program. It will all start with a Jumpstart phase, taking only high-fiber chocolate shake (Nutrimeal) as a replacement for each of my meal for 5 days. It will be accompanied by food supplements taken after each meal/Nutrimeal. For the solid food that I need to take, only fruits and veggies are recommended but it should have low glycemic index. The aim of this diet program is to correct your metabolism and regular the sugar intake/level in your body.

I tried visiting the gym after that week and hello again to the biggest loser list. I am part of the top 5 losers for the month of January! Good way to start the year, right?

And after the first phase, only two meals will be replaced by Nutrimeal and a low glycemic meal can already be taken during dinner time (and guess what this kid really has ways to deviate from what should be done. I had quite many cheat meals during the 2nd week of my diet program). Surprisingly, I tried getting my weight again, after a sumptuous Valentine meal the night before. I really didn't gain weight even I had heavy cheat meals for the past days. And yes, the weekend after my jumpstart week, I indulged myself to the usual weekend food we have at home. hahaha.

Here's how I look like right now. No more bulging belly, I lost that super rounded face and I can now see a gap between my head and shoulders, in layman's term, the neck. My arms lost inches too. Many of my friends would be too surprised on what happened to me and would compliment me of losing weight. Most of them would tell me how it fits me well and to stay as how it is. But there are some who would even make me realize how I look so stout before that I was even compared to a ball or rounded stuff and a great difference is so good for me.

Now I'll admit, I am used to wear body shaper (just like the Aug 2013 photo)
just to minimize the bulges. But come Mar 2014, it's all bare, no more body shaper!
I don't have any plan of quitting my new diet regime and would even schedule more gym visits after my busy schedule at work and my business ventures. I hope many people would be inspired and step up to work on a healthier lifestyle.

For anyone who wanted to know about my effective diet plan, simply message me and I'd be glad to show you how. Let's have a short talk and plan our fitness goals together!

UPDATE: Here is just one of the throwback post I posted in my Facebook account and many of my friends loved my physical change. Of course, add to that having a healthier lifestyle!
